Past Project Highlights*
Bucknell University
On this project, a team was led to develop a comprehensive carbon neutrality plan. This allowed the client to see a clear path to obtaining their goal of carbon neutrality by 2030.
Cancer Treatment Centers of America
It was a joy to work with this client to provide a unique methodology of procuring energy. In doing so, the hospital saved 30% of their utility spending costs, which equated to a savings of $450,000 annually.
Jersey Shore University Medical Center
In 2010, during the planning of the new LEED Gold Patient Tower, the plan for a new dual service was found to be unreliable. It involved 17 miles of infrastructure over telephone poles from the same substation, and it was highly cost-prohibitive. The team was led to incorporate two 2 MW engines as part of a tri-generation plant. By securing a state incentive, combined with annual savings, the $3.9M project was brought to a one-year payback. The new system was designed for reliability and took the medical center through Superstorm Sandy when the township lost power for more than 14 days. The medical center stayed fully functioning — and it became a refuge for the area police and fire departments to maintain operations and host their command centers.
Abington Memorial Hospital
Utilizing an innovative approach involving the development of a CHP plant, the Abington Memorial Hospital was helped to save $4M annually. The $10M project paid for itself in just over a year, due to the tenacity to secure $5.75M in grants. Additionally, it saved $900,000 by using an energy procurement methodology that was specially established.
Philadelphia Water Department
The Request for Proposal (RFP) and selection process for a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) was managed in order to incorporate a new wastewater biogas-to-energy facility. A $47.5M project, it included 5.6 MW of electric production fueled mainly by biogas from the digesters. The project is on track to reduce energy costs by over $12 million over the course of the 16-year contract. The process was managed capably, from the client interface to creating the RFP, analyzing the bids, supporting the selection, and conducting contract negotiations.
Yale University Hospital
About $3M per year in savings was identified with the construction of a new central plant. The Request for Proposal (RFP) and selection process of a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) was led for a $55M project. The project included chilled water, steam production, and 6.5 MW of electric production. The process was managed from concept through bids and selection.
